Blog Reqeust 3: Seng
Very recently (two nights ago?) I took one person into confidence - Seng. I can't say it was expected, or meditated, and it amuses me to reflect upon how our interactions have evolved over the last 8 months.
I suppose one could say that he picked me out, for - in his own words - 'intellectual curiosity'. And then we moved on to invent a curious pseudo-friendship by calling each other names. Like Turtle. And Soup. Not to mention Jackfruit.
If I were a man, I'd call Seng my soccer-and-beer buddy. Nothing to hold us together but a keg of beer - but a glue undoubted all the same. Distance and time seem irrelevant, not for particular affection, but for sheer raison d'etre.
If I were Ms Career Woman, I'd call Seng my Pantry Comrade. The kind you share paperclip and pencil supplies with as you crack your heads over individual assignments. The kind you steal a coffee break with, for the sheer number of hours you have to see each other for.
To be perfectly honest, I am perfectly aware that imperfection knows him, knows us, by name - more intimately than you could ever imagine. But we work out in spite of it. I guess that's how the buddy system work; you just take in the whole package, don't you?
