charm has found something to do!

The idle mind is the Devil's workshop.

Boy am I glad for the kind of friends I have, who've been keeping me an angel.

Friday: The German Film Fest
My crazy marathon began on Friday, with a German Film Fest trip with Chen, Qiurong, Colin and Jez. Another of those patchwork companies that like all quilts, leave me feeling kind of nice and warm. It reminds me of the social freedom I've always loved myself for - the opportunity and ability to hang out with anyone/everyone. And as I've been saying, the only way I could possibly describe Into Great Silence, the film we watched, is with silence. Punctuated with the occassional snore, of course.

After the most torturous 2 ++ hours of suppressing laughter, trying to force our eyelids open (except Qiurong, the only one of us who ever survived lectures in school), and pretending to be thoroughly enjoying the artistic atmosphere, we ended up walking out after conferencing over a series of smses, and laughing our artistically-primitive butts awake before we even hit the exit. If we did that often enough, I'd have to-die-for abs in no time, I think.

There you go, people, a confession straight from the horse's mouth - something was actually too arty for farty charm. (Although Jez claims that the rest of the positively riveted audience was merely better trained in looking polite.) q: (<-- I can invert my tongue-out-smileys too! HAH!)

Saturday: AEP party @ Mr Tan's!
You'll never believe what we bought Mr Tan as a door gift, even I don't - a plant and a pineapple.

Haha, the long and short of it goes, we ate, we laughed, we ate, we laughed, we ate.
Sunday: KI BBQ and some shopping! (:
I finally did what I've been wanting to do for the longest possible time - I spent my money!

Gaby and I (finally) went on our shopping spree and WHOA. We might have bored Siewching a little, who tagged along because of the KI BBQ that evening. But even Ms Ang bought a shirt and a pair of sandals - so I'd say, Shopoholics 1, Discipline 0.

I have absolutely no idea how I should begin describing the madness that transpired in Bugis (Gaby's haven), but it began, as usual, with everyone being late except moi. So I conquered the whole of Bugis Junction alone, in the boring, airconditioned, mall. Then Gab came and put the ping in the way I shopped.

We tackled Bugis Village with a deadly systematic grid. I like to make up for the discipline that lacks in the finance department.

In desperate attempt to atone for my amazingly colourful and uh, not so decent wardrobe that I can barely wear out, I intended to get:

A basic shirt with those small, simple buttons down the top half of the shirt.

A t-shirt dress I've been hankering for ever since love at first sight happened at Zara.

A pair of delicious heels, to remedy my sneaker-choked shoe cabinet.

But everybody knows that Charm wouldn't quite be Charm without a little dash of spontaenity, so here's what I got:

3 pairs of earrings, in the famous 3 for $5 LANES of shops. They are SO cute, my only regret is in having only one pair of ears. ):
a) a saccharine pair of rosebud studs, which tons of people have ( ): ) but I'm still special anyway ( (: )
b) I simply couldn't resist - a pair of earings boasting an anchor and a steering wheel (of a ship), one for each ear. Sailor themed! hahaha. They looked so cute, I just couldn't... ):
c) chic purple hoops.

A dress, that I really picked out with no intention of buying. But when I tried it on, Gaby went euphoric. The shopkeeper did too, but for quite different reasons, I think. But it's the perfect dress for looking like little Ms Cupcake.

(THIS DRESS, also nearly killed me. Halfway into our 3rd hour of shopping, I found myself feeling very, very un-burdened by the shopping bag I should be holding. And then it was PANIC. Whoa. I thank the Lord for sending me a wonderuful pal like Gaby, with a sense of direction and a way of manouvring Bugis that I'll never have, which really saved my cupcake dress.I love love love love love my friends. On a second note, why do things like that always happen to me??!

Anyhow, the nice shopkeeper from the shop where I left it kept it for me. Aaah, the world is full of nice people!(: )

One cup of Jollybean Soya bean milk! Okay, so this doesn't really count as shopping, but food nourishes the spirit too!

A white playhaus (bimbo) bag, that matched the black playhaus bag Gab bought there too. Hahhaha. I intended really, only to get it if we could push the price down to $18, but the woman wouldn't budge after $19, but I fell in love with it anyway. Smart woman, she KNEW I wouldn't be able to resist it. But I will redeem myself: (ahem) the bag is of an extremely functional size. Very practical.

And some sparklers and party streamers - as our contribution to the BBQ. I will always remember to schedule my shopping trips before gatherings/events/other activities, so I'll actually have to stop shopping.

I did not, as you see, get my tshirt dress. Or my basic tops. Or my heels. Not for the lack of finding any of them though.

I will go back.

I will conquer.

Anyhow, then we had an adventure finding Liangwei's place. Instructions passed from mouth to mouth, until Siewch, Gab and I ended up scouring TANAH MERAH, for Liangwei's Orange and White BEDOK condominium.

Blissful as the ignorant usually are, we congratulated ourselves on finding the (wrong) bus, and took it down to the (wrong)third bus-stop, which we again congratulated ourselves on finding, and were met with THREE ambiguously painted (and also wrong) condominiums that, according to my company, could pass as Orange and White. So we debated the leeway the average layman should be given in terms of recognizing colour(the first was so OBVIOUSLY reddish-pink, and the second was CREAM. NOT ORANGE AND WHITE! q:)

But anyhow, Liangwei freaking out over the phone was enough to send us scuttling in the right direction, where we rode past our destination in complete consensus (finally!) because the Orange and White condominium, was really YELLOW!

But we made it. I don't know how. But we did. After a hell lot of walking. Phew.

And how could any party with the kind of people who were there not be excellent? (:

So, ahem. It was a very productive day, and I even took home some very important lessons in life.

1) It is possible to do extrememly good shopping with very little money if you know where to go. (: (: (: (Fellow financially-anorexic females! There is hope yet!)

2) Scouts learn how to roast marshmallows to perfection. At least, our scout did.

3) Never complain about the quality of the roasted marshmallows if LW roasted them, unless you're very, very sure you can contain a whole night's worth of re-tries.

4) Science Talent students can make rockets out of sparklers. In other words, NOTHING is safe with highly creative, hyperactive kids who actually have the MEANS of doing what it takes.

5) Gaby and I CAN cook. Only, no one believes us.

<3 This is a very contented and happy girl you're reading. (:

Monday: Today, and Tomorrow.
So I'm finally sitting down on -not just a chair- MY chair, recuperating from yesterday's madness, and gearing up for yet another night of fun with a different set of people- Sixoh!

This will be our 4th sleepover, and 2nd chalet counting - in the very same unit we booked in June. S: (<-- I can invert this smiley too!) Talk about fate.

Hahaha. (: I am having so much fun.

I will be using my *new* bimbo bag, and I will be having a lot of fun. Then tomorrow, I will have even more fun, and then I'll meet Tristan for a dinner that I'm sure will also be fun, and then, it'll be back to plain ol' living again.

But hey, this is more than good enough for me (:

nothing ever happens at 12:14 p.m.
